Mexican athlete dies during the Xel-Há 2023 Triathlon

A Mexican athlete died this Saturday morning during his participation in the 13th edition of the Xel-Há Triathlon.
The organizing committee confirmed the news and noted that the athlete was 49 years old and originally from the country's capital.
“It is with deep sadness that we report the sensitive death of a 49-year-old athlete, resident of Mexico City, during his participation in the Xel-Há Triathlon on the morning of this Saturday, November 18.”
He explained that during the competition, they were informed of the fainting of the participating athlete, who was immediately attended to by the emergency teams present.
He was later “transferred to a private hospital in Playa del Carmen, where he arrived with vital signs.”
At the end of the statement, they report that the triathlete died due to cardio-respiratory arrest, leaving their condolences and joining the grief of family and friends.
