How is it played?
to play in Mega Millions you must choose six numbers: five numbers from 1 to 70 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 25 for the golden Mega Ball.
If you guess all six numbers you win the jackpot.
How is the prize collected?
You must contact your state lottery office if you win the jackpot. You will then be invited to make an appointment at the venue to complete the necessary steps to collect your winnings.
If you win the Mega Millions jackpot, you will need to choose how you will be paid: Cash Option or Annual Payment.
Annuity Option: The Mega Millions annuity is paid as one immediate payment followed by another 29 annual payments. Each payment is 5% higher than the previous one to offset inflation.
Cash Option: A single lump sum cash payment that is equal to the cash in the Mega Millions jackpot prize pool.
Prize claim periods vary depending on the jurisdiction of the state where the Mega Millions ticket was purchased, so the time period to claim prizes varies from 90 days up to one year from the draw date.
If you win a prize of less than $600, you must claim your winnings at an authorized retailer in the state where you purchased the ticket.
Prizes over $600 must be claimed at your local district office or state lottery headquarters in the state where you played.
