McDonald's officially launched its Happy Meal in its collaboration with streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market (CPFM) as part of the company's strategy aimed at attracting adult customers.
Starting today, Monday, August 3, people will have the opportunity to get one of four collectible figures of McDonald's mascots: Grimace, Hamburglair, Birdie and the new friend named Cactus Buddy.
In addition to the toy The Happy Meal is served with a 10-piece Big Mac or Chicken McNuggets, with fries and a drink. All inside a special edition packaging available while supplies last.
Through social networks, some users have shared their experience with this purchase. “I just got an adult happy meal from McDonald's and it even has a toy in it”wrote a Twitter user.
CPFM is a high-end fashion brand that has stood out for its eccentric and fun graphic images. The figures that come with this collaboration seem distorted. For example, each of them has four eyes. Also, Cactus Buddy looks like it was made of clay by a child.
In recent days, the head of marketing and customer experience for McDonald's USA Tariq Hassan said the launch aims to bring nostalgia to adult consumers who once had the experience of opening a happy meal in their childhood.
“We are taking one of the most nostalgic McDonald's experiences and literally repackaging it in a new way that is very relevant to our adult fans.", said.
The announcement caused divided opinions among users of social networks. Some said creating a Happy Meal for adults is "the logical end point of American culture," while others see the launch as making perfect sense.
The collection of toys among young generations has been increasing. Since the first Funkos were released, they have become a hit in consumer trends and are expected to reach $1 billion in the next five years, says polygon.com.
Despite the showy campaign, This is not the first time that McDonald's has attracted an adult audience to its Happy Meals. He previously did so with collaborations with BTS, Pokemon, and rapper Travis Scott.
