MARYLAND: Man charged with DUI after truck crashes into utility pole

A Maryland man has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after his truck collided with a utility pole. causing a widespread power outage in a Cumberland neighborhood, police said.

The Cumberland Times-News reports that more than 1,500 Potomac Edison customers in Cumberland’s South End were without power following the accident Sunday night.

Police said the driver’s truck hit and snapped a utility pole and also struck two cars parked in a commercial parking lot as heavy snow fell around the city. He was not injured.

Police said the driver received citations and was released after posting $2,500 bond.
