Man drowns in river while looking for ring that his mother gave him

Carlos Sánchez, 53, drowned in the Gila River in Arizona, United States, while looking for a ring that his mother had given him.

According to authorities, a woman identified as Laura managed to get out and ask for help, however, the man did not have the same luck.

The police began looking for Carlos, but did not find anyone near the water. After several hours of searching, they finally located the victim's body, which was between six and 10 feet deep.

After the events, Carlos's friends regretted what happened and described him as a good person.

The young woman who accompanied Carlos on the day of the tragedy also burst into tears when she remembered it.

For his part, Sergeant Joaquín Enríquez ruled out that a crime had been committed and attributed the drowning to a strong underground current.
