Maduro demands withdrawal of blockade against Venezuela to stop migration
Nicolás Maduro, president of Venezuela, demanded the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the economic blockade established by the United States against that country.
He assured that if this condition were to occur in one year, the migration of Venezuelans to the north would be completely reversed.
In a message issued after the work and debate meeting with presidents and foreign ministers of South America, Central America and the Caribbean on the causes of migration in Latin America, Maduro said that the economic sanctions imposed by the United States on Venezuela are illegal. , coercive and torturous.
“Lift all sanctions, permanently, totally and completely, without extortion, without blackmail, without conditioning, and Venezuela, this is what I promise, in less than a year is reversing all the causes and this entire situation,” Maduro emphasized in his message after his participation in the summit.
He said that the support of the countries in the region to demand the cessation of these sanctions was unanimous, since they have been the main trigger for the migration of more than 2.3 million Venezuelans to the south and north of the continent, mainly since 2015.
