López Obrador celebrates book delivery in Chihuahua
This Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, congratulated and celebrated the distribution of textbooks in the state of Chihuahua, an entity that had protected itself against their delivery.

The president stated the above in his traditional conference morning in the National Palace, from where stated that those who had requested and granted the protection "realized that it was not correct what they were doing."
A very important thing has just happened in Chihuahua, the distribution of books was not allowed, those who presented the protections gave up because they realized that what they were doing was not correct and they are already being distributed," he expressed.
For this action, the Chief Executive congratulated the parents who withdrew from the appeal they had filed and also extended congratulations to the teachers who did everything on their part so that textbooks could be distributed in schools.
This was the reason why the material was not distributed
The friction over this case dates back to the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, when the governor of Chihuahua, Maru Campos, and the governor of Coahuila, Miguel Riquelme, filed a constitutional controversy to stop the delivery, considering that the copies lacked scientific support and contained errors. The appeal was granted by Minister Luis María Aguilar, which sparked annoyance in the Presidency and the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).
These entities, which are governed by the opposition to the party in the federal government, were the only ones that did not distribute books, so the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) discussed whether the delivery of the copies was federal jurisdiction or whether the states had the capacity to intervene; On October 4, the First Chamber dismissed the controversy filed by the government of Chihuahua and ordered immediate distribution.
