Liga MX Femenil: Tigres defeats América and takes the lead | Video
UANL Tigers won this Wednesday by 1-3 at America to ruin their perfect streak and jump to first place in the Apertura 2023 tournament of the Liga MX Femenil.
At the close of the ninth day of the championship, Tigres, led by the Spanish Milagros Martínez, went from less to more and won with goals from Nayeli Rangel, Belén Cruz and Jacqueline Ovalle, confirmed as scoring leader; for América, led by strategist Ángel Villacampa, was present on the scoreboard Katty Martinez.
The Azulcremas prevailed from the start of the match and in the 23rd minute this was reflected on the scoreboard with a goal from Martínez, from his left foot following a pass from Kiana Palacios.
The visitors stopped the Eagles' attacks and in four minutes they turned the score around, with a couple of defensive mistakes by the Spanish defender Andrea Pereira.
At 42', Jacqueline Ovalle took a corner kick; Rangel beat the defense and scored the tie with a header. Three minutes later, Cruz connected with an assist from Maricarmen Reyes and with his left foot put the 'Amazonas' ahead, 1-2.
Tigres stood up well in defense against an opponent that did not recover from the goals and in the 86th minute they received a third blow, with a penalty taken by Ovalle, who reached 11 goals, three more than her teammate Maricarmen Reyes, from Charlyn Corral, from Pachuca, and from the American Christina Burkenroad, from Monterrey.
The 'Amazonas' reached eight victories, with a draw and 25 points, one more than América, second place, and four above Chivas de Guadalajara, third.
