Former Croatian soccer coach Miroslav 'Chiro' Blazevicwho led the team that came third in the World Cup in France 1998died this Wednesday in Zagreb at 87 years of age, after suffering a long illness.
The great Miroslav “Ćiro” Blažević has passed away, aged 87.
The father of modern Croatian football and one of the game's greatest coaches, Blažević had a hugely successful career, also leading teams in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland.

'Chiro' He was very popular for his sporting successes, but also for his sense of humor and sociability, so that the public and the media nicknamed him 'The coach of all coaches' either 'Legend Chiro'.
Born in 1935 in Travnik, Bosnia Herzegovinawhere he began playing with a local team, he was part of a number of Balkan clubs, including Dynamo Zagreb.
blazevic He began his coaching career at the age of 31, in 1963and then direct in total 19 clubs in Switzerland, Greece, Slovenia, Bosnia, China and Iran, as well as the teams from Switzerland, Croatia, Iran, Bosnia-Herzegovina and China's under-23s.
His greatest successes were when his Dinamo Zagreb won the championship in 1982 of Yugoslavia, and when the selection of Croatia finished third in the 1998 World Cup contested in France.
