The Attorney currently defending accused murderer Brian Kohberger previously represented the mother of one of the alleged victims murdered at the University of Idaho and abruptly dropped her case in a move where the grieving mother felt betrayed.

The Court-appointed defense attorney Anne Taylor had been advising the mother of slain University of Idaho student Xana Kernodle in an unrelated drug case when she suddenly withdrew her services on January 5, court records show.

That same day, Kohberger, 28, made his first court appearance in Idaho, with Taylor representing him.

“I am heartbroken that I trusted her,” said Cara NorthingtonKernodle's mother told News Nation in an interview on Wednesday.

"(Taylor) pretended to want to help me... And finding out that she's representing him, I can't even express how betrayed I feel," Northington said.

Taylor, who is head of the Kootenai County Public Defender's Office, was Northington's attorney in at least two cases, the outlet reported.

More recently, was defending Northington after the mother was arrested and charged with drug possession on November 19, six days after her daughter and three other people were killedsupposedly by Taylor's current client.

She dropped that case when a judge appointed her to represent Kohberger..

Northington said he only found out about the connection from a friend who found out about it through Reddit.

“I don't understand how he could do this… I don't understand what happens now. Do you still have power of attorney?” Northington questioned.

Kohberger is accused of fatally stabbing Kernodle, 20, her boyfriend Ethan Chapin, also 20, and their two roommates, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, inside their off-campus home on November 13.

The Washington State University criminology student has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of robbery in the shocking crime.
