For causes still under investigation, a Hispanic driver died in a head-on collision after his vehicle inexplicably crossed the center lane near a busy Montgomery County avenue and crashed into another going the wrong way.

Eddy Thomas Jara, 30 years old and resident of the Gaithersburg, Maryland area, died shortly before 7:30 in the morning of Sunday the 15th, as a result of the spectacular accident.

The two cars, the Honda driven by Jara, and a Ford, ended up destroyed. The Montgomery County Police Department said experts will determine what caused Jara to lose control of his car before moving into the opposite lane.

County authorities said the driver of the Ford and a passenger in his vehicle were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

They also asked that if a community member has any information related to the accident or the circumstances that preceded it, they contact local police at (240) 773-6620.

They ask for help

Meanwhile, Jara's family and relatives ask for the help of the community to be able to cover the expenses related to his funeral. For that purpose they started a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe.

"Due to this grim and unexpected accident," the family's statement said, "our parents are devastated by this tragedy and unforeseen funeral expenses."

In a note posted on GoFundMe, the family recalls that "Eddy would light up any room with that beautiful smile and those dimples."

"Since his childhood -he adds-, he brought joy to his mother, father, siblings, his extended family and friends", and he also points out that in addition to being a very hard-working person, "Eddy leaves behind two wonderful children who unfortunately will have to grow up without his father.

“He was always there for his children and made sure they had everything they needed. He was a wonderful son, brother, father, and friend to many. His presence will always remain in our hearts and memories," the note concludes.

The Jara family indicated that in the next few days they will share the day and place of the burial.
