  • Journalist Heber López is assassinated in Oaxaca.
  • Spain will continue to invest in Mexico.
  • Banks make a killing by charging commissions to Welfare Cards.

Yesterday at 7:00 p.m., the body of journalist Heber López Vázquez, 43, was found dead. The communicator worked as director of the digital media Noticias Web, based in the port of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca.

According to the first reports, the murderers arrived aboard a white pick-up truck at the journalist’s office, on Ávila Camacho Avenue in the center of Salina Cruz.

The first investigations of the Attorney General of the State of Oaxaca indicate that it was a direct attack, since the journalist received two shots from a firearm in the chest, which caused his death.

After the cunning murder, those responsible fled, but the municipal police, who were nearby, heard the detonations and undertook the chase, achieving the arrest of two individuals who were seized with a firearm.

The execution of members of the journalistic union is outrageous, Heber López was a communicator with more than ten years in professional practice in the port of Salina Cruz. He had worked in various local print, television and radio outlets.

Since he founded his Web News portal, he has been a critical voice of the behavior of social, political, and union organizations.

The journalistic union of the isthmus and at a national level are dismayed and regret the murder of the journalist Heber López and we stand in solidarity with his wife, his two children and his brother Irving, also a journalist.

This is the fifth journalist murdered in Mexico so far in 2022. From this platform we will have to follow up on the investigations carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office in this case in Oaxaca.

Take it with interest.- Antonio Basagoiti Pastor, president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce; He stated that Spanish businessmen act with honesty and ethics, and will continue to invest in Mexico because their projects are long-term.

He affirmed that in the last 20 years Spanish investments have been made in Mexico for more than 76 billion dollars, but also national businessmen allocated 30 billion dollars to the European country.

Antonio Bassagoiti assured that what President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said is “political dialectic, but in the business world the reality is that Spanish companies generate a million jobs for Mexicans.

In this way we see that political language is indeed one thing and business reality is another. It is important to highlight the performance that Spanish companies have carried out for many years in favor of Mexico, due to their friendship, the investment they make, the generation of employment in favor of Mexicans, and due to the trade agreements between both nations.

Take it with indignation.- Due to legal loopholes unresolved, beneficiaries and federal legislators denounced that the banks “get rich” with the opacity in the management of the funds of the Welfare Cards for the elderly.

And it is that with the collection of up to 40 pesos for withdrawing cash at ATMs; of up to 12 pesos to check your balance, and to manage funds not withdrawn for various reasons, banking institutions have at their disposal 9 billion 350 thousand cards and funds for 238 billion pesos in this 2022.

According to data from the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users (Condusef), Bansi and Multiva banks charge 40 pesos for cash withdrawals; HSBC, 30.90 pesos; Banorte, Afirme, Santander, Scotianbank and Banco Intercam 30 pesos. BBVA charges 29 pesos; Citibanamex, 26.50 and Banco Azteca 25.86 pesos.

Just a few examples of how banking institutions profit from the money of the elderly, who have well deserved it for their wisdom, their work and the fatigue that the passage of time gives them, many of them no longer have the strength simply to walk, and if they find themselves alone and in extreme poverty, they run into obstacles ranging from technological, to assisting banking institutions to obtaining the money that the government deposits them to pay for their expenses, difficult for many with those who grant them live each month

On the other hand, there have been Welfare cards without funds for two years, or simply in banking institutions they change the recipient from one day to the next, so many people cannot have the resources that the Fourth “T” is supposed to offer them. .
