Hurricane Otis intensified and reached category three on the Saffir-Simpson scale, near the coast of Acapulco, Mexico.

According to the National Protection Coordinator, the system is located about 185 kilometers south-southeast of Acapulco with a travel speed of 13 kilometers per hour and maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour.
For its part, the National Meteorological Service detailed that Otis must impact Mexico as a category four and predicts that it will make landfall between Tecpan de Galeana and Acapulco during the early hours of Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

The Mexican authorities put on alert for the region between Punta Maldonado and Zihuatanejo in the state of Guerrero, where it is expected to remain for the first 48 hours after arriving in Mexican territory.
Likewise, the winds and rains from Hurricane Otis are expected to impact Guerrero, Oaxaca and Michoacán.
Given the proximity of the phenomenon, the Government of Guerrero decided to suspend classes starting this Tuesday to protect students, teachers and other education workers.
