At least one death was reported in the Mexican state of Nayarit as a result of the passage of Hurricane Lidia, which made landfall as a category 4 in the state of Jalisco and descended as it advanced to category 2 on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

The Government of the state of Nayarit reported that a man died after a tree fell on his car while he was driving on the Punta Mita highway, in Bahía de Banderas.

The State Civil Protection and Firefighters Unit of Jalisco indicated in a statement that the center of the cyclone is located about 50 kilometers from Puerto Vallarta and 105 kilometers from Cabo Corrientes.

Likewise, it was detailed that the intensity of the winds has decreased to 165 kilometers per hour, meanwhile, it is moving in an east-northeast direction.

In Nayarit, where there are 376 refugees in the 25 available shelters, landslides were also reported on the roads of the municipalities of Bahía de Banderas and Compostela.

At the same time, in the municipality of Autlán de Navarro, in the south of Jalisco, the Coajinque River and the “El Cangrejo”, “El Salado” and “El Cristiano” streams overflowed, which has caused the flooding of several houses and buildings.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported that Lidia made landfall this Tuesday around 5:50 p.m. local time (11:50 p.m. GMT) at Cape Corrientes, on the northern coast of Jalisco.
