Hamas publishes video of French-Israeli blonde taken hostage
The Islamist group Hamas on Monday released a video showing a statement from one of the people captured in last week's devastating attack on Israel.
In the images, the woman, who appears with her injured arm being treated by a doctor, identifies herself as Mia Schem, 21, and asks to be returned to her family as soon as possible.
A representative of the family, who were part of a group of French citizens who last week asked President Emmanuel Macron for help in freeing their captured relatives, confirmed their identity to Reuters.

At least 199 Israelis and foreigners were captured by Hamas gunmen and taken hostage in the attack, in which 1,300 people died, the highest death toll in a single day of conflict in Israel's 75-year history.
The Israeli military issued a statement saying it was in contact with Schem's family and condemned Hamas as a "murderous terrorist organization." He said he was using "all operational and intelligence measures" for the return of the captives.
"In the video, Hamas tries to present itself as a humanitarian organization, while responsible for the murder and kidnapping of babies, women, children and the elderly," he said.
Previously, Hamas's armed wing had said that the non-Israelis kidnapped on October 7 were "guests" who would be released "when circumstances permit."
