The parliamentarian Guillermo Bermejo attended the invitation of the Lower House of the Russian Parliament (Duma), which summoned a group of Peruvian congressmen to participate in the International Parliamentary Conference Russia – Latin America, held in Moscow from September 29 to October 2.

The parliamentarian, currently under investigation for corruption and facing terrorism accusations, expressed criticism of US foreign policy from Russia. However, he failed to mention the atrocities committed by the Russian government since the invasion of Ukraine.

“The world demands an end to the 'warlike' career of American imperialism that, in the last 20 years, has devastated several nations, including Libya, Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, claiming the lives of more than 7 million people due to the massacres. Furthermore, this policy has resulted in economic blockades imposed on sister countries such as Venezuela and Cuba. Surprisingly, even countries like China and the Russian Federation have been included in this list,” he maintained.

In another part of his speech, the legislator spoke in front of a group of Russian and Latin American parliamentarians. He emphasized the importance of collaborating together to create “a different world based on the principle of self-determination of nations.”

“Development and cooperation, built on the foundations of solidarity, in search of global social peace, (…) and for that it is necessary that the riches that we can offer as a block of countries, are understood by the support of technology for the fair industrialization of our towns,” he assured.
