The controversy surrounding the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) continues, since the leaks made by hacktivists from Guacamaya show that its secretary, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, has given and received expensive gifts.
For his 2020 birthday, Sandoval received several luxury gifts, including Bulova watches, Gucci, Victorinox, food chests, candy and liquor bottlesand even a certified imitation katana from the Samurai Museum.
In addition, they have given him a talavera vase with a certificate of authenticity, a tequila Herradura supreme selection extra añejo, a Hugo Boss coata jersey of the Mexican baseball team with his second surname on the back, paintings, books, handcrafted figures, as well as a Mont Blanc pen.
The list of gifts sent to the Secretary of Defense was 151 present by 84 soldiers, nine public officials and five governors, as well as 13 other people.
According to an attached document in an email sent to Sandoval, with the name “List of Christmas Gifts for the Attention of the General Secretary of National Defense”, in 2021 they gave him 193 items. Among the things that the head of Sedena received, are legs of Serrano ham, bronze figures, bottles of wine and tequila, as well as Christmas baskets.
Gifts sent by the Secretary of Defense
Sandoval showed that he knows how to return affection and that he can also delight people with luxurious gifts. The list of gifts given by the Secretary of Defense to guests and close personalities is long and includes various brands and objectswhich draw attention because they completely come out of the republican austerity imposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
It begins in December 2018, when the current six-year term began, Among the gifts that Sandoval has given are Tiffany earrings, Cartier brand glasses and Pineda Covalin ties.
One of the most expensive gifts on record are sunglasses from the Santos collection of the French luxury brand Cartier.
In an email that Secretary Sandoval sent to himself last April, it is revealed that he gave those sunglasses to mayor Gerardo Garay Herrera, for his 64th birthday. He also gave away bottles of tequila, mezcal and wine, Covalín silk scarves, as well as expensive flower arrangements.
