Guatemala received this Thursday another 15 nationals who died at the beginning of the month in a traffic accident in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, in the state of Chiapas, in southern Mexico.
In a statement, the government details that all returnees are men between 18 and 46 years of age. The text adds that the operation took place in collaboration with the Mexican authorities and they were received by the Guatemalan Air Force.
“The Consular Network works to guarantee that assistance and protection is provided to nationals; in addition, it coordinates at the diplomatic level with the federal authorities of Mexico so that health assistance is given to the victims ”, they affirm.
They add that, to date, a total of 74 Guatemalans have been discharged from different Mexican hospitals after the incident.
On December 9, a trailer with 150 migrants crashed, leaving more than 50 dead and about 100 injured.
The Central American country had already received the first four bodies.
