Green Party promotes nutritional health of students
Green Party assured that the reform of the General Education Law regarding food health is of great importance for the purpose of guaranteeing healthy and safe school spaces for present and future generations.
The PVEM senators highlighted the above, especially given the current panorama in which our country holds first place in childhood obesity worldwide.
The Green Party bench argued that nearly 24 million students in basic education are exposed to the sale of junk food in their schools, which is why they pointed out that it is vitally important that the SEP add the guidelines, preparation and sale of foods and beverages according to the nutritional criteria established by the Ministry of Health, which must be reviewed every five years.
He explained that this reform prevents all advertising of junk food, in addition, all food establishments and outlets must commit to promoting healthier lifestyles.
Environmental senator MarĂa Graciela Gaitán explained that the monitoring and application of these measures will be under the responsibility of school directors and authorities, while the sanctions will be the responsibility of the educational and health authorities.
Finally, the legislator called to continue working from the legislative field in favor of guaranteeing that Mexican girls, boys and youth have a healthy life in the school environment, in the best interest of preventing food health risks, strengthening the activity physical fitness and promote healthy lifestyles.
