In a new edition of the Kings League Chups Chups, a weekly program dedicated to talking about everything related to the competition, its president Gerard Piqué announced that the tournament seeks to expand and is in talks to take it to seven or eight countries in 2024.
“We are in full expansion, we have conversations with several countries so that 2024 is a year in which there are 7 or 8 countries with the Kings League. With finals at the end of the year in which the winners of each country play, ”he said this Friday afternoon in a broadcast on Twitch.
In the midst of the turmoil that his private life is having after retiring from professional football and going into business, Piqué recently closed another deal that will benefit the Kings League.
The Final-Four of the tournament will be held at the Spotify Camp Nou after reaching an alliance with the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta. This measure will bring great economic gains, as it recently revealed that more than 30,000 tickets were sold.
However, Piqué clarified that the games will not be played in the main stadium, but in a space that will have the same measurements as the fields where the tournament is taking place.
The King's League is a seven-a-side soccer competition created by streamers, players, and former soccer players. It premiered in January and would have a duration of 11 days that would take place until March, approximately.
This project will take place on Sundays with six commitments per date and has Gerard Piqué as president, former players like Iker Casillas or Sergio 'Kun' Agüero and content creators of the caliber of Thegrefg, DjMariio, and even the Mexican Rivers.
Although they are conventional soccer matches, they have particularities that make them more dynamic, such as the implementation of secret cards and jokers, non-static penalties, and a disputed kick-off.
