Garfield, the movie shares first trailer for the new cat film
The iconic orange feline, Garfield, returns to the big screen with a new animated film titled Garfield: The Moviewhose trailer was recently released.
In this new adventure, Chris Pratt takes on the role of the famous and sarcastic mascot, while Samuel L. Jackson joins the cast as Vic, Garfield's father. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on May 24, 2024.

The trailer offers fans a look at Pratt's performance as the voice of Garfield, the fat, lasagna-loving cat. The narrative focuses on how Garfield adopted his owner, John, before diving in his characteristic love of food. In a humorous way, Garfield warns audiences about the inevitable presence of unpleasant food in the filmsuggesting that young children might want to leave the room.
The movie Garfield by Chris Pratt marks the latest addition to the franchise on the big screen. Previously, Bill Murray played the charismatic feline in "Garfield: The Movie" in 2004 and its sequel "Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties" in 2006. Despite negative reviews, the hybrid CGI and live-action films were commercial successes .
Garfield's popularity has also extended to direct-to-video films, such as Garfield Gets Real and Garfield's Fun Fest, as well as animated series Garfield and Friends and The Garfield Show.
The "Garfield" is directed by Mark Dindal, known for directing "Chicken Little" and "Emperor's New Groove", with a script written by David Reynolds, recognized for his work on "Finding Nemo." The production is backed by Columbia Pictures and financed by Alcon Entertainment, owner of the rights to the "Garfield" comic series and brand.
Sony Pictures will handle global distribution of the film, excluding China. Garfield creator Jim Davis serves as executive producer, alongside a team of producers that includes Bridget McMeel, Craig Sost, John Cohen, Steven P. Wegner, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Namit Malhotra and Tom Jacomb.
With Pratt and Jackson leading the cast and an experienced creative team, “The Garfield Movie” promises to be a fun and fresh addition to the story of this beloved cat on the big screen. Fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere to enjoy Garfield's new and comic adventures.
