According to media reports, the price of gasoline experienced a rise of seven cents in the last seven days to reach an average of 2,117, while oil increased nine cents, averaging 2,003.

According to published statistics, the cost of gasoline grew 3.7 percent compared to the previous week, while crude oil grew 5.1 percent.

These figures exceed the response capacity of the bonus granted by the Government, which was set at an aid of 20 cents per liter of fuel and was extended until the end of June.

In this regard, the general secretary of the non-governmental organization Facua-Consumidores en Acción, Rubén Sánchez, urged the Government to set a maximum price rate after a year-on-year rise that almost reached 80 cents per liter.

The setting of maximum prices was a practice abandoned by the Spanish State in 1998, but Sánchez considers that in this context it could be “the only effective solution to the scarcity suffered by consumers”.

The unilateral restrictive measures imposed on Russia by the European Union after the start of the special military operation in Ukraine have affected senders to a greater extent than receivers, which has caused the deep global energy crisis.
