Former Sedesol official linked to Master Scam arrested

Elements of the Federal Ministerial Police, of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), detained, in compliance with an arrest warrant, Simón Pedro de León Mojarro, former coordinator of delegations of the Secretariat of Social Development (Sedesol) linked to the so-called Master Scam, during the management of Rosario Robles.

Sources from the autonomous body, headed by prosecutor Alejandro Gertz Manero, reported that the former official is linked to the crime of improper use of powers and powers, in accordance with the judicial arrest warrant.

The investigations carried out by the Federal Public Ministry relate it to the diversion of 124 million pesos, through a contract assigned to the Intercultural University of the State of Mexico (UIEM).

The capture of De León Mojarro took place last Monday, when he was walking along Paseo de la Reforma and Sierra Gamón street, in the Lomas de Chapultepec area.

The sources consulted explained that during the early hours of Tuesday, the former official was presented before Control Judge Juan José Hernández Leyva, at the Federal Criminal Justice Center based in the South Preventive Prison.

They impose justified preventive detention

The judicial authority certified the legality of the capture and imposed the precautionary measure of justified preventive detention, given the possibility that De León Mojarro could evade justice and flee.

The Control Judge, Hernández Leyva, summoned the hearing for next Saturday in which it will be determined whether or not it is linked to the process.to the former Sedesol official, and, for now, he will remain deprived of liberty in the South Prison.

According to the investigations, three other arrest warrants are pending against De León Mojarro, also related to the diversion of resources at Sedesol, in the case of the Master Scam.

One of the arrest warrants was granted by a Federal Judge based in Almoloya de Juárez, State of Mexico, related to the crime of organized crime and money laundering, for the diversion of 77.8 million pesos, in a contract with the University Autonomous of Morelos.
