The former presidential candidate, Paraguayo Cubas, was arrested this Friday by the National Police of Paraguay for the alleged disturbance of public peace.

Through its account on the social network Twitter, the National Police reported that the preventive detention took place at 4:30 p.m. (local time) in the city of San Lorenzo, about 14 kilometers from Asunción (capital), "in compliance with the official No 1/23 emanated from the Public Ministry".
Cubas, who came third in the elections held on April 30, did not resist the procedure, according to the commander of the National Police, commissioner Gilberto Fleitas, quoted by local media.

In addition, he commented that the former candidate was transferred to the headquarters of the Specialized Group of the National Police located in Asunción.

After the arrest, the former presidential candidate EfraÃn Alegre also spoke out to demand the freedom of Cubas.
"We demand the release of all citizens detained for requesting transparency, we are only asking for transparency from the Electoral Justice," he declared in a video shared on his Twitter account.
