The news also published by local media has taken place when the detection of 2,467 outbreaks in poultry was confirmed on October 2, which have caused the sacrifice of around 48 million birds in the 37 affected European countries.

The patient, who works on a poultry farm in the province of Guadalajara, in Castilla-La Mancha, tested positive on September 27 after the sample analysis carried out four days before.

The affected person remained asymptomatic and was isolated until day 28, when the diagnostic test was repeated and the infection was negative. On the other hand, the rest of her co-workers have tested negative.

Spanish specialists confirmed that the patient's work contacts have been preventively consuming an antiviral against this type of flu, oseltamivir.

On September 12, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food reported that an outbreak of bird flu was detected in a chicken farm, resulting in the slaughter of 601,000 laying hens.

During 2022, 36 outbreaks of avian influenza H5N1 in poultry have been detected in Spain. On the other hand, since the beginning of this century, the World Health Organization (WHO) has presented more than 800 cases in humans, with a fatality rate of 52 percent.
