FIFA announces new phase of ticket sales for Qatar
FIFA will put another batch of tickets for the Qatar World Cup on sale next week, which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The governing body reported on Wednesday that 1.8 million tickets have already been sold for the tournament that will start in five months.
The new sales phase will start on Tuesday on the FIFA website.
The first World Cup in the Middle East will be held between November 21 and December 18.
The cheapest tickets for fans outside of Qatar will cost 250 Qatari riyals ($69).
The tournament has a maximum of 3 million tickets, with 2 million available for general sale and the other million for FIFA’s partners, such as federations and sponsors, in addition to official hospitality packages.
Organizers reported last week that they received 40 million ticket requests in the first two sales phases.
The last batch will close on August 16, although more tickets often become available later due to member returns. There is also the option of acquiring tickets that would be available by fans of teams that are eliminated.
