Two Baltimore men have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in October in Columbia, Howard County, Maryland. The arrest came after a gun used in the shooting was found during a search warrant during a separate robbery and firearms investigation that led to the arrest of three teenagers and one adult. On October 16, officers were called to the 6000 block of Foreland Garth for a report of shots fired and found a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound outside the Exxon gas station. A few minutes later, two more victims arrived at Howard County Medical Center. One of them, Dylan Miguel Perez, 24, of Baltimore, died as a result of his injuries. In a separate case, detectives were investigating a July 16 robbery on Melba Road in Ellicott City, and upon executing a search warrant managed to seize multiple “ghost guns,” in various stages of assembly. One of them had been used in the triple shooting that resulted in the death of Pérez and serious injuries to two other victims. Two suspects in the shooting were arrested and charged with the crime: Shamond Isiah Steward, 18, of Baltimore, and a 17-year-old teenager, also of Baltimore.
