The Fairfax County Police Department this week kicked off its third wave of the successful “Road Shark” campaign in Fairfax County.
Road Shark is a coordinated, high-visibility education and enforcement effort to deter aggressive driving, reduce crashes, and change driving behavior. Our police officers play a crucial role in enforcing traffic laws and ensuring the safety of all drivers on our roads. Our officer's presence on our roadways shows his continued dedication to the community they serve and that FCPD is committed to doing his part when it comes to road safety.
Officers throughout Fairfax County will increase visibility and traffic enforcement efforts in hopes of educating drivers, disrupting aggressive driving, and encouraging safe driving behaviors.
Indulgence behind the wheel can be deadly. Crashes are often attributed to excessive speed, distraction, and aggressive driving. Officers can provide complacent drivers with a reminder that good behavior and driving habits can save lives.
Last season, officers along with our Virginia State Police partners issued more than 5,000 citations and warnings.
Along with FCPD's 2023 monthly traffic safety campaigns, Road Shark will be an integral part of this approach to keep community members safe.
