F1: "He has nothing to lose anymore": Christian Horner on 'Czech'
Christian Hornerhead of the team Red Bulldeclared that, with the advantage he has in the drivers' championship max verstappenYour partner Sergio Perez ought “have less pressure”after the bad weeks lived in Monaco and Spain.
perez came to Monte Carlo only 14 points behind Verstappen after a very even start to the season between the two, but a clash in qualifying, followed by a race without points, the gap increased to 39.
In it Barcelona circuit the situation worsened for the Mexican, where another poor start on Saturday left him in 11th, which ended in a fourth position in the race, but rising to 53 the difference in the qualifier.
In interview with sky sportsand collected by the Formula 1 portal, Horner stated:
I think if you look at the points now, there's a big difference between the two… if it does anything, it's take the pressure off him (Czech). He has nothing to lose anymore, he just needs to relax and drive like you know he is capable of.
In addition, the strategist highlighted how difficult it is to have a partner like Verstappen. “Without detracting from credit, there isn't a single driver out there today who could have beaten Max in that car.. (Czech) competes with a driver who is at the top of his form and that is very complicated ”.
The expectation he's putting on himself (Czech) needs to let go for now and just be free to drive.
