The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, advocated this Thursday to intensify the cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union (UEE) with regions such as Latin America, as well as with alliances such as the Brics, which includes Brazil.

Putin: Russia will continue to build a fairer global order

During the summit in Moscow of the bloc made up of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Putin assured that "the EEU should actively develop relations with countries that are striving for an equal and mutually beneficial association."

The Russian president explained that he is referring to partners in Latin America, Asia, the Arab world and Africa, as well as multilateral associations such as the Brics (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), the post-Soviet Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), among others.

In this context, the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, offered Cuba as a bridge between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Latin American and Caribbean region, during a videoconference intervention as a guest at the summit of the bloc headed by Russia.

"Our country has extensive and multilateral relations with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, which allows it to serve as a bridge to forge ties between our countries," Díaz-Canel asserted.

The president of the Caribbean country also highlighted that Latin America and the Caribbean have great potential to increase cooperation with the UEE due to its vast natural resources and invaluable human capital.

"Such organizations such as the UEE demonstrate that another relationship between countries is possible," stressed the Head of State of the Antillean nation, who also denounced the hostile policy of some powers that resort to sanctions and interference in the internal affairs of countries whose governments they yearn for a multilateral order.

Also in the context of the Eurasian Economic Union summit, the Russian president asserted that the bloc is becoming one of the centers of the emerging multipolar world, stressing that the interaction of the five member countries is invariably based on the principles of mutual benefit.

The leaders of the UEE began to communicate the day before in the Eurasian Economic Forum. In the summit that began this Thursday, decisions will also be made about the deepening of the integration processes in energy and food security, as well as technological and financial self-sufficiency, among others.
