Episcopate external regret and pain for tragedy in Santa Cruz de Tamaulipas church

The Conference of the Mexican Episcopate (CEM) expressed its regret and pain at the loss of lives and injuries suffered by several faithful that occurred this Sunday when the roof of the Church of the Holy Cross collapsed in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas.

"The Church is a community of faith, love and mutual support, and in these difficult times, we come together as one body to express our solidarity with all those who have suffered from this tragedy. We ask the Lord to grant them strength to endure this difficult path of mourning and healing" expressed the bishops of Mexico in a press release released this afternoon.

The message of the Catholic hierarchy is for the deceased, their families as well as for those who are trapped and injured.

The prayers of the Mexican Episcopate are for all the victims of these events to achieve speedy recovery and consolation in the midst of suffering. Speedy recovery and comfort in the midst of this suffering.

Finally, they expressed their support to Monsignor Armando Álvarez Cano, Bishop of the Diocese of Tampico.
