Through a statement, the ELN indicated that this Sunday "the dialogue delegation has returned with security and guarantees," with the accompaniment of representatives of the guarantor countries of the process, such as Cuba, Venezuela and the Kingdom of Norway. .
The ELN asserted that this return occurred after more than four years of non-compliance by the Colombian State with the commitment assumed with the Protocol signed in April 2016.
"This is a victory for reason and international law against the purpose of perfidy that the Government of (Ivรกn) Duque sought not only to circumvent the obligations contracted with the ELN, and with the international community," the text refers.
In addition, the ELN affirmed that the administration of former president Duque also intended to "cause serious damage to the people and the Republic of Cuba, as the country that hosts the talks in its commitment to peace in Colombia."
Finally, he thanked the guarantor countries for their accompaniment and for their defense of international legal principles, as well as Cuba for its hospitality.
This occurs after the rapprochement that began last August between a delegation from the Colombian government, led by President Gustavo Petro, and the ELN to resume peace talks.
