Having been champion after a 70-year drought, in addition to being the defender of the title, represents a high responsibility for Atlas de Guadalajara, which, although it does not register defeats in the 2022 Liga MX Closing Tournament, the game approach proposed by coach Diego Cocca remains unconvincing.

Criticism has come out everywhere against the ‘Zorros’, mainly from some Mexican media, for which the Argentine coach has come out against the criticism and has attacked the sectors from which they are manufactured:

“If we had won, we would be first and we would say that Atlas is a phenomenon, we did not win because the ball did not go in, we were not effective and it seems that being fifth is a disaster, but we are two points behind the first, we are there, we are in the fight and we are in a process of growth”

At a press conference after the last tie for matchday 6 against Pumas (0-0), the third in a row after the match for the Concacaf Champions League against Austin FC (1-1) and date 5 of the local tournament with Puebla ( 1-1), the strategist minimized that the operation of the equipment is not as expected.

“We didn’t win because the ball didn’t go in, we did everything possible, let’s not forget that we played with Pumas (…) always the protagonist, always up front, they are a very difficult rival. We knew that there would be few options and we lacked effectiveness”, Cocca remarked.

He also called on the fans and critics to be patient and trust his project: “The result will come, we continue in the fight, the results will come, the ball needs to go in.”
