The intense rainfall that has taken place in Haiti has left 42 people dead as of Monday, according to the nation's General Directorate of Civil Protection.

"The partial part of the bad weather on June 2 and 3, 2023 now amounts to 42 deaths," the Caribbean entity stressed, while 11 people are missing.

Similarly, as a result of the overflow of several rivers, floods and landslides, the Haitian agency reported 85 injuries and a total of 13,633 flooded houses.

In the report dated June 4, there were already 15 dead and eight missing, while 7,475 affected families and 1,219 flooded houses were reported.

Meanwhile, Civil Protection noted that around 13,390 people were displaced by the rains and its effects in the departments of Ouest, Nippes, Sud-Est, Nord-Ouest and Center.

In addition to the rains, Haiti suffers in this context alert status in terms of food insecurity.

In this regard, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Program (WFP) indicated in a joint report that Haiti and other African countries "were raised to the highest level of concern" on the past 29 of May.
