Although it has been a few months since the dump of Resident to J Balvin, Daddy Yankee did not miss the opportunity to talk about the subject, because he gets along with both and hopes that they can work out their differences.
“I wish him the best for both of them and they have my respect. I know them both; With René I have spoken many times face to face about things that we differ from, but we are always face to face. If in the future they feel they have to fix it, hopefully they will.” expressed the “Big Boss” in an interview.
Additionally, he talked about how both J Balvin and Residente and Bizarrap were able to profit from this controversy in one way or another: “I feel that an earthquake fell on Balvin, but he survived. Rene hit him hard, but Balvin as an artist survived. This is part of the genre; Balvin demonstrated his greatness, René was able to demonstrate his lyrical prowess, and Biza monetized”.
In the past, Residente was asked why he had not talked about Daddy Yankee in his tiradera, in which he not only talked about J Balvinbut of many other artists of the medium.
Residente’s tiradera was a collaboration with the eight-minute Argentine producer Bizarrap, which is connected to the network problem he had with J Balvin, since he said that the Recording Academy should be boycotted because he feels that there was not enough representation of urban artists. The former member of Calle 13 did not agree and decided to start a debate with the Colombian artist on social networks.
At the moment, Daddy Yankee is promoting his last tour before his retirementwhich has several dates in the United States and in most Latin American and Caribbean countries.
