The Minister of Health, Julio Borba, pointed out this Monday that the Ómicron variant has dramatically increased the number of people infected with Covid-19, and that serious and critical cases continue to be admitted despite the fact that this variant is considered milder.
At the same time, he added that the pandemic does not distinguish between ages and that in recent days there has been an increase in pediatric cases. At the same time, revenue increased by 19 percent.
The latest report from the Ministry of Health indicates that the number of deaths has also been on the rise with a growth of 50 percent compared to previous months. The total number of deaths amounts to 17,321.
In turn, Paraguay reported this Monday the highest number of cases since the start of the pandemic with 6,800 positive samples and an average that reaches its maximum peak with 5,896 new infections reported each day.
However, on Monday, the pediatric immunization process began at the corresponding ages of 5 to 11 years. About 26,347 infants have received their first dose of Sinovac.
The Ómicron variant has been the fundamental cause of the expansion of Covid-19 and the production of new waves of infections. Latin America as a region has noted a considerable rise in the number of cases and accumulates a total of 58,553,000 infections and 1,591,000 documented deaths.
