Costco sold more than 100 million rotisserie chickens in 2021

Costco sells near 100 million chickens roasted each year and the chain of stores has had the same price for more than a decade.

If you are a Costco member a whole chicken will only cost you $4.99. In fact, the chain store loses money on that price.

Costco has held the price of rotisserie chicken in a decade

However, food prices are at their highest point in the last 10 years.

In many households, Costco rotisserie chicken is more than just a dinner staple. It is also a well-priced ingredient that provides flavor and protein. with a minimum of preparation time.

Until now, the partners have wondered how long the chain will raise the prices of its chicken due to inflation.

Meat prices have risen, and many Costco partners are hoping that rotisserie chicken isn’t next. Some have even taken to social media platforms like Reddit to ask the chain store not to raise the price.

Costco’s net sales increased in the past year up to nearly $50 billion, an increase compared to the same period in 2020, in which $42 billion in sales were recorded.

The number of rotisserie chickens sold at Costco continues to increase each year. In 2006 the company sold 30 million chickens; in 2020, 101 million chickens; and last year, it broke a record by selling 106 million rotisserie chickens.

So far, the company continues to sell its star food at $4.99 dollars and there is no date that this will change.

The company prefers to leave things as they are since the objective of offering members a low price is part of a strategy to attract more customers.
