Costa Rica announces adaptation plan on climate crisis | News
The Ministry of Environment and Energy (Minae) of Costa Rica reported this Tuesday that the six socioeconomic regions of the Caribbean country will implement priority measures to achieve a concordance between regional development and the climate crisis.

The Ministry specified that the action plans were prepared in conjunction with the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy (Mideplan) of Costa Rica; It also had the support of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
Likewise, the actions will be prioritized by institutions and social actors of each locality; In addition, they will be developed in key areas such as infrastructure, tourism and sustainable agricultural production, among others, in the temporary period from 2022 to 2026.
"The mainstreaming of adaptation to climate change in regional planning allows building solutions from the bottom up, through processes where the voices of multiple actors in the territories and of the key sectors of local development are heard", specified the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy.
Some of the strategies implemented by each economic region include the need to have climate-smart public, road and tourist infrastructure, business and technological innovation; the promotion of green and inclusive entrepreneurship; as well as the implementation of solutions based on nature.
According to the MINAE, the plans were developed through the Tropical Science Center, which included the review of information on existing regionalized climate scenarios, public policy and planning instruments at the subnational level.
