After months of work, the 155 members of the assembly begin their first plenary session, dedicated to the discussion and voting of the articles that make up the new Magna Carta.

In this sense, the president of the convention, María Elisa Quinteros, stated that: “Very intense weeks are ahead of us and, finally, as a result of months and months of work, we are going to give life to a proposal for a new constitution for the peoples of Chile” .

In July of last year, the Constituent Convention began the drafting of the regulations, which stipulated the functioning of the assembly during the voting of the articles.

This Tuesday, the reports concerning the first articles of the Commission on Justice Systems, Autonomous Control Bodies and Constitutional Reform will be discussed.

For its part, this Wednesday will deal with those of the State Form, Ordering, Autonomy, Decentralization, Equity, Territorial Justice, Local Governments and Fiscal Organization Commission.

The final version of the text of the constitution must be presented before July this year. Then, within 60 days, a plebiscite will be held that will determine the adoption or not of the new Chilean constitution.
