Brigades of engineers from the Instrumentation and Seismic Risk Center AC (Cires) managed to restore 73 percent of the Seismic Alert sensors, affected by the passage of Hurricane Otis in the state of Guerrero.

“After the first 72 hours of the impact of Hurricane Otis, we reestablished communication with 19 of the 26 affected seismic sensors, which represents 73 percent of the recovery of the damage caused to the sensors that detect earthquakes in this area,” he indicated in a statement. release.

“We are aware of 2 sensors with damage and 5 sensors located on the Costa Grande of Guerrero and areas surrounding Acapulco remain to be checked, which we hope to visit during this weekend, as soon as access conditions allow it,” he explained.

Cires clarified that the operation of the sensors of the Mexican Seismic Alert System (SASMEX), which cover the regions of Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, the north-central area of ​​Guerrero, the Chica coast of Guerrero, Puebla and Oaxaca, operate normally.
