Social and cultural groups representing indigenous and Afro-descendant movements carry out a peaceful protest in front of the headquarters of the Ombudsman’s Office in Bogotá, at the same time as at the Pedagogical University, where the Indigenous Minga and students lead the protest demonstration , as the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca (CRIC) had advanced several days ago.

From the CRIC, Giovanny Yule, explained that “We have come in a legitimate action, walking the word, to declare ourselves in a humanitarian emergency due to the entire situation of violence that has been bathing our indigenous, Afro, peasant territories, and now the territories of the city with the military and political persecution of the young people who have participated in these great demonstrations in recent times”.

Another of the demands of the indigenous Minga is related to the prohibition of the so-called “fracking”, a mobilization in which the 139 indigenous authorities of the 11 towns that are part of the CRIC participated:

“Indigenous peoples join this call for life, in defense of the environmental, social and cultural rights of the communities, that is why they will walk through the main streets of Popayán, aware that unity among different people is necessary to save the planet. ”.

At the headquarters of the Attorney General’s Office, a sit-in is presented for freedom for political prisoners and justice for those who died during the national strike, whose number has so far been undetermined and whose responsibility the Colombian State does not assume.

Starting in the morning, a popular assembly began in the National Park to socialize among some of the convening organizations the reasons for marching. Among them they expose the demand for a comprehensive agrarian reform, the little guarantee for the permanence of ethnic groups in their territories, the high cost of living and the defense of nature.
