The Colombian athlete Arnovis de Jesús Dalmero won the gold medal in the long jump at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games this Tuesday.

Dalmero achieved his winning mark on the second jump when he stretched to 8.08 meters.

The podium was completed by the Cubans Alejandro Para and Maikel Vidal, as both in their best jump marked 8.01 meters.

The 23-year-old Colombian managed to redeem himself from having lost his place at the World Cup in Budapest, Hungary, and at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games after being disqualified for using illegal shoes in the South American championship in Sao Paulo last June.

Colombia led the Santiago 2023 long jump, since in the women's category it also took gold through Natalia Linares.

Another interesting result on this date of Pan American athletics was the victory of Cuban Yunisleidy García in the 100 meter dash for women.
