Al menos 100 líderes sociales han sido asesinados en Colombia, al confirmarse el viernes el asesinato del líder social e indígena, Luis Eduardo Timana, en el municipio Pradera del departamento del Valle del Cauca.

Según el Instituto para el Desarrollo y la Paz (Indepaz), el líder indígena del pueblo Nasa, fue asesinado por desconocidos cuando se dirigía a su domicilio, ubicada en el área rural del municipio.
La senadora indígena por el Movimiento Alternativo Indígena y Social (MAIS), Aida Quilcué, lamentó en sus redes sociales el fallecimiento de Tinama, al tiempo que exigió al presidente colombiano, Gustavo Petro, medidas urgentes y efectivas para proteger la vida de los líderes sociales.

El líder social era candidato al concejo municipal de Pradera por el Pacto Histórico y hacía parte del apoyo político del equipo de representación jurídica a víctimas que lidera el Consejo Regional Indígena del Cauca (CRIC) para el caso 05 de la JEP.
De acuerdo al balance de Indepaz, desde la firma del acuerdo de paz en agosto de 2016, alrededor de 1514 líderes y defensores sociales han sido asesinados en el país suramericano.
