China Urges US to Stop Sanctions Against North Korea | News
China urged the United States to end so-called sanctions against North Korea to allow the Asian country's economic development for the benefit of the North Korean people, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said Wednesday.

The official stated: "If the US is really concerned about the welfare of the North Korean people, it should stop imposing sanctions and putting pressure on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea's official name)."
He assured that the sanctions do not contribute to the resolution of hostilities on the Korean peninsula. In this sense, he pointed out that: "To solve the problem of the Korean peninsula, the rational concerns of North Korea must be addressed."

Last January, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called for a "confidence-building" review of his policy toward the US due to heightened hostilities from the West.
As part of this scenario, the North Korean nation resumed missile tests with small- and medium-range missile launches earlier this year.
On Friday last week, China's ambassador to the UN called for dialogue regarding North Korea. Similarly, he rejected the Security Council's joint statement condemning Pyongyang's missile launches.
The official called on Washington to give due importance to the denuclearization measures taken by Pyongyang.
