China decrees quarantine in Anyang due to Covid-19 outbreak | News


The authorities of China and the province of Henan (center) ordered this Tuesday a quarantine in the city of Anyang, with more than 5 million inhabitants, due to an outbreak of Covid-19 infections, being the third in recent weeks .

Authorities are conducting massive coronavirus testing, a standard procedure whenever authorities detect a source of infection.
Anyang reported 58 new local infections in the past 24 hours, adding to 84 in this latest outbreak.

The local government ordered Anyang taxi and transportation service operators to keep their vehicles within the city, while all ticket sales for Beijing-bound trains and buses have been suspended.
The province has been the hardest hit in China, with a total of 456 cases recorded in the recent outbreak, and Anyang residents join the 1 million people confined in Yozhou in the previous week and the 13 million in Xi’an, since three weeks ago.
More than 2.9 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines were administered in mainland China as of January 10, according to the National Health Commission.
