The Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez of Red Bull, second in the Formula One World Championship 21 points behind his teammate, the Dutchman Max Verstappen, showed his optimism with a view to the Canadian Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend in Montreal, stating that they will face it “at a sensational moment for the team”, which leads both championships.
Checo Pérez and the good moment heading to Canada
“We are going to Canada in a sensational moment for the team. Having achieved the highest possible score in Baku – where he finished second, behind Verstappen – was a brilliant result for all of us, as it keeps us in the fight for both titles”, commented `Checo’, born 32 years ago in Guadalajara ( Jalisco) and that at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last Sunday he achieved his twentieth podium since racing in F1.
“For me it was a frustrating day, in part; but when you have a frustrating day and you finish second and set the fastest lap in the race, you can’t say that things have gone too badly”, said the Mexican from Red Bull.
“This car is doing really well on street circuits and we are optimistic with a view to repeating a good staging this weekend that will allow us to maintain the positive streak”.
Happy to go back to Canada
“I’m going to spend some time to better understand the Baku race together with my engineers to try to get the best out of the weekend”, commented ‘Checo’, who two races ago, in Monaco, won his third victory since driving in Formula One.
“It’s good to be back in Canada. It is a circuit in which I like to drive and doing it there with such a competitive car is going to be really fun”, said the Mexican with a view to the ninth Grand Prix of the season.
