Carlos Romero Deschamps, controversial oil leader, dies
Mexico.- It has been announced that, on the night of Thursday, October 19 to Friday, October 20, Carlos Romero Deschamps, who was leader of the powerful Petroleum Workers Union of the Mexican Republic (STPRM) for 26 years, died. He was 79 years old and his career was marked by accusations of corruption, such as the Pemexgate Case.
After the arrival of Andrés Manuel Löpez Obrador to the Presidency of the Republic, Romero Deschamps' star began its accelerated decline and had to resign amid allegations of corruption and embezzlement.
Regarding his death, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has just said: “I wish comfort and resignation to his family and friends, because no one should wish death; "You don't have to mess with the deceased or the sick, you have to respect them."
