Carlos Alcaraz: "I come to Beijing with the special motivation of recovering number one"
The Spanish Carlos Alcaraz He stated this Wednesday that he is facing the tournament in Beijing, China, in the category ATP 500 and on hard court, with the “special motivation of recovering the number one” in the world ranking which the Serbian now holds Novak Djokovicwith whom he has “a beautiful battle” to rise to the top.

As I have said a few times, we have a beautiful battle for number one after Djokovic's great results on the American tour. He is number one right now. I come here with a special motivation to try to recover it. It's something that I have in my mind in every training session and in every tournament.
Alcaraz will make his debut in Beijing this Friday against an opponent from the previous phase, to return to the courts for the first time since he lost in the Semifinals of the US Open against the Russian Daniil Medvedev. Thus, he arrives at the Asian tournament with the aim of winning his seventh title of the season, to be just 315 points behind Djokovic.
A number one that he is not “obliged to recover”, although it is among his “goals” for the year.
Number one is one of the main objectives. In these big tournaments, I'm going to try to do everything I can to get closer to or regain that position.
“I have done some good training before coming here, I completed some sets against academy players who are playing well. I feel good, yesterday I did the first training session on the center court. It was incredible to enter the stadium and feel what it's like to play on that court,” said Alcaraz, who has a record of 58-7 this season.
Alcaraz will make his debut in Beijing on his return to the ATP Circuit in the Chinese capital for the first time since 2019, so his experience on this track is zero, although his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrerodid play in Beijing five times, reaching the Semifinals in 2005.
