A man lived dramatic moments after his five-year-old daughter was kidnapped after the theft of his parked vehicle in the Lincolnia, Virginia area, whose child was in the back seat.
It took about 40 minutes for two people to report that they had found the girl, when she was wandering alone near the intersection of 13th Street and E Street, in the Northwest (NW) area of Washington, DC.
The events occurred around 6:30 pm, after the driver left his Honda Accord with the engine running in a parking lot located in the 6200 block of Little River Turnpike, to enter a restaurant to pick up food.
Apparently, the criminals who took the vehicle did not realize that the minor was in the back seat.
The stepfather returned and did not find the car and neither did the girl. The police declared the Amber Alert, usual in these cases of kidnapping minors. Patrols and a helicopter saturated the surrounding jurisdictions.
Until at 7:18 pm the two neighbors found the girl, who alerted the DC Metropolitan Police.
Washington fire and rescue personnel were asked to verify the girl's health status, and later managed to reunite her with her parents.
Detectives continue to search for the stolen gray 2012 Honda Accord with Maryland license plates 94667CJ. The car has a black hood with damage to the front and back. The suspect is described as an African-American male with dark, curly hair.
