California reports 4 new infections every second


The Omicron variant has brought to California a rate of 4 new infections every second
and the outbreak continues to increase while the state already exceeds 6 million cases
positive so far in the pandemic.
John Hopikns University reported Monday afternoon that California had 6 million
85 thousand 177 infections.
On Monday, 308,820 new positive cases were reported in California. Los County
Angeles, the epicenter of the current wave of infections, exceeded 45,500 new ones on the same day
positive cases.
These are unprecedented numbers in California, which became the state with the most cases
accumulated, in the country that has most impacted the coronavirus pandemic.
There are more than 11,000 hospitalized now in California. Governor gavin Newsom
projects that hospitalizations will exceed the 23,000 barrier.
John Hopkins University reported Monday that the county with the most infections and
deaths from Covid in the country is Los Angeles.
Los Angeles would reach 2 million infections on Tuesday, if the current rate continues, and
it already has 27,785 deaths.
Miami Dade counties in Florida and Maricopa counties in Arizona approach one million
of contagions,
San Diego County, also with a growing number of infections, had on Monday
1,013 hospitalized, 172 of them in intensive care beds, with 183 remaining
hospital beds available to care for Covid patients.
So far in the pandemic, 19,414 people have been hospitalized, 1,961 in care
In San Diego, the death toll from Covid is 4,500 people.
